The team is fully online — that is what lets us reach the work we do. It is also what makes the admin brutal. Everything happened somewhere different: a Slack thread, a Notion doc, a shared drive, an email in another time zone. When it came time to bill, reconstructing who did what, for which client, in which currency, would eat entire days. Freelancers in different countries, clients on different rate cards, projects priced in different currencies — every invoice was a manual reconciliation, done late at night because that was the only time the whole picture sat still. We were spending the hours we should have spent on creative work on admin instead.
